the story

Hamster Cam watches your webcam and picks a hamster meme to match whatever you are doing with your hands, arms and head.

Hand, face and body landmarks are read by MediaPipe, and the gesture rules run on the numbers. Everything happens inside the browser — no frames are uploaded anywhere.

what went into it

  1. 01Landmark tracking

    MediaPipe reads hand, face and body landmarks from the webcam feed, live.

  2. 02Gesture rules

    Plain rules over the landmark numbers decide which pose you are pulling.

  3. 03Anti-flicker voting

    A gesture has to win 7 of the last 12 frames before the hamster switches, so a single bad read never flickers the picture.

  4. 04Private by design

    All processing happens on-device in the browser. No frames leave your machine.
